The Sodality of St. Anne

The Sodality of St. Anne

“Bo Mma-Bana” – Serving the Family. Serving the Church. Serving the Community.

💜 Who We Are
The Sodality of St. Anne, affectionately known as Matlamela Leiso, is a vibrant community of Catholic mothers (married women) who dedicate their lives to faith, family, and service. Rooted in deep spirituality and tradition, the group nurtures holiness in the home, supports parish life, and uplifts communities through prayer and action.
Their guiding motto:
“Goodness, Industry, Cheerfulness, and a Special Love of the Blessed Sacrament.”

Our Story
The movement began in French Canada in 1850, founded by an Oblate of Mary Immaculate priest, Fr. Honorat. He saw the faith and dedication of married women and inspired them to follow the example of St. Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus.
The sodality spread across Africa, reaching Botswana via Lesotho, and today thrives in many dioceses as a beacon of faith and unity among women.

Our Life Together
Members easily recognized by their purple tops, black skirts, and berets—meet regularly for Mass, prayer, reflection, and formation. In Corpus Christi, gatherings are held weekly on Thursdays at 1730hrs
Their dedication is so strong that they are fondly known as the last to leave the church, staying to serve long after the final hymn.

Our Mission in Action
The women of St. Anne’s Sodality live their faith through outreach and compassion:
• Visiting young mothers and families in need
• Supporting the bereaved and lapsed Catholics
• Assisting parish priests wherever help is needed
This sisterhood is more than a group, it’s a spiritual home, a support network, and a legacy of love passed from one generation to the next.
